Artist Statement

The work I create all stems from my love and admiration for the animals we share our lives and homes with and the natural world that we belong to and are connected to. I am a professionally trained photographer and a graphic artist and often combine the two mediums when producing artwork. I often incorporate many natural elements and motifs in my portraits, design and illustrations with watercolour. My creations incorporate and involve the universe and the abundance of beauty that can be found in earth’s array of plant life. 

Through photography I create portraits of pets and the people who love them, capturing milestones and memories for adoring pet owners. The outdoor portrait work I create often uses the natural beauty of the capital city and its surrounding areas as a backdrop. I seek and find dazzling light that I use to create punchy, colourful imagery. 

When creating images in my home studio, I enjoy the use of contrasting colours with thoughtful consideration of the fur colour of the animals I’m photographing. I utilize simple, clean backgrounds that allow me to enhance the pet subjects and to let them take the centre stage of the image. My use of colour and emotion in portrait work is integral to my creation and forming a connection with the viewer. 

Through my creation of pet photos and unique digital design, I hope to create an emotional response, generation smiles and design to give brands a professional aesthetic to take their businesses to a new, elevated level.
