Sampson's 9th Birthday!

Updated: Jul 9, 2020

Wishing Sampson a BIG happy birthday!

This sweet guy makes me smile and laugh daily. I'm so glad to be able to celebrate another year with him. He's my constant companion, my adventure buddy, and my shoulder to cry on. He's the best friend a girl could ask for!

If you have a dog, you know it's hard seeing them get older. I've seen my dog change, year after year. But change isn't all bad. There are benefits to your dog getting older, and Sampson is no exception.

You've got a little more grey on your snoot than before. You used to take hours and hours of activity to wear out all the energy you had. But dogs are like a fine wine; better with age.

As you've gotten older you've become more gentle, more sensitive to my body language and posture. You've learned some new tricks, too. You're no longer reactive to strangers we encounter on walks.

You've learned about chasing the deer but only to the edge of our yard. A younger you might have been off in the woods and gone.

You walk a lot nicer on a leash, loose lead and you're getting better and better with each walk. It's a delight having a dog who I can trust off-leash in the woods with me when we explore the forest.

You take your time to enjoy life at a slower pace. You like to trot along beside me on our walks, stopping on occasion to sniff and take in scents.

All in all, our walks may be a little slower and a little shorter, your muzzle is showing the signs of the life of a good boy but in my heart, you will always be that small little puppy with the big feet and wagging tail.

Here's to another fantastic year of being the best boy.

Cheers!
